SWEET CORN |
|
We have started growing sweet corn in Mid-April this year. We tried a different growing method that let us start sooner than what the actual growing season is for sweet corn. We planted the seed and then covered it with plastic to simulate a greenhouse affect, and then we sat back and watched it grow! We are hoping that we will have sweet corn available for purchase by the 4th of July, but of course that is dependant on the weather. We have 3 different types of sweet corn that do well in our area; Ambrosia, Trinity, and Bodacious. Sweet corn is $4.00 a dozen and you can stop in any time when it is ready for picking. If you are in need of large quantities for freezing, canning, or eating, please let us know in advance so we can have it ready for you. If you have questions about sweet corn, please call or e-mail Nick and Gretchen |

We are expecting that berries will be ready for picking around the middle of June. Berry price will be $1.50 per pound if you pick your own and $2.00 per pound for pre-picked. We will provide large flats and quart boxes, but if you would like to bring your own container to pick in that is also allowed. If you bring your own container, we will have to weigh it prior to you picking berries, so please check in at the shed. Picking will start as early as 8 am and will go until the ripe berries are picked for the day. We recommend calling a day in advance to make sure there will be berries ready. Again, pick your own will be done on a first come-first serve basis. Please call or e-mail Nick and Gretchen with questions or for more information. |

Some of our new berries were planted with a planter. These will be covered with straw in the fall and will make matted rows. |
The rest of the new berries were planted on plastic to help prevent weed growth and help maintain moisture.
